It’s not just television producers who appreciate an OB facility – radio producers do too. A radio OB facility means that radio can be first with the news, picking up the atmosphere of the story at the same time.
This can be particularly fruitful when a story doesn’t permit embargoed interviews and there is a quick turnaround between a story happening and broadcast coverage – perhaps at an awards ceremony when the organisers can’t release the names of the winners.
We organised a radio OB at the launch of Carnival’s new cruise ship Splendor. The ship’s Godmother Myleene Klass, Royal Navy Diver Petty Officer Christian Rumming and Carnival’s Head of Entertainment, John Heald were amongst the spokespeople interviewed dockside.
