About us
Meet our founders
Shout! Communications was founded in London in 2003, by broadcast journalists Keren Haynes and Catherine Bayfield. They met whilst training to be broadcast journalists, then each spent the first part of their careers working in national television and radio. Today they lead a team of experienced broadcast PR specialists who understand exactly how newsrooms work — because everyone on the team has worked in them themselves.
Keren Haynes
Before co-founding Shout! Communications, Keren built a senior career in broadcast journalism. She finished her reporting career with a piece for the Today programme on BBC Radio 4. As a Senior Broadcast Journalist in the BBC’s business unit, Keren
Earlier roles included Senior Broadcast Journalist at the BBC, News Editor at ITN and reporter at Sky News. She has also worked as a producer and newsreader across radio and television.
Keren spent five years working abroad as a journalist in the Middle East and Asia before returning to London.
Catherine Bayfield
Catherine’s background is equally rooted in national broadcasting. She worked as a senior Output Producer at GMTV, the predecessor of Good Morning Britain.
Before that she was Head of Planning at London Tonight and produced well-known broadcast commentators including Richard Littlejohn on Sky News and Dr Hilary Jones on ITV.
At Shout! Communications Catherine leads the media training service.
Our Story
From broadcast newsroom to broadcast PR
Keren and Catherine’s broadcast credentials and newsroom heritage shapes the agency it is today. Every member of the Shout! Communications team has worked in broadcast or broadcast journalism before moving into broadcast PR and media relations.
Why their background matters
Because the team have been the journalists, producers and editors that they now pitch to, they understand exactly what broadcasters are looking for.
• what makes a story work on television and radio
• how to shape a PR idea into a broadcast-ready story
• how to secure interviews and features across national and regional media
• how to prepare spokespeople so they perform confidently on air
This insight means the Shout! Communications team secures thousands of pieces of broadcast coverage every year across UK and international outlets.
Broadcast PR for modern communications
Shout! Communications is a long-established broadcast PR specialist agency, but it’s also evolved with the media landscape.
After nearly two decades based in offices in Covent Garden and Bloomsbury, the agency adopted a flexible, virtual working model, investing instead in state-of-the-art portable broadcast equipment.
The agency’s pop-up radio studios allow them to create broadcast-quality interviews from almost anywhere, providing similar technical support for television when needed.
The result is a broadcast PR agency that is nimble, efficient and cost-effective — mirroring the way modern broadcasters operate.
For PR agencies and in-house communications teams across the UK, that means expert broadcast support without unnecessary complexity or expense.
